The aim of the urban planning specialty is to cultivate high-level personnel specialized in general urban planning, regional planning, detailed planning and management of urban planning. In 2000, the department became one of the very few departments all over the country that passed the educational assessment for the urban planning specialty of college and university. Students are required to learn the theory and the methods of urban planning as well as some basic knowledge of sociology, economics, culture, management and engineering technology related to planning.

Students can acquire the following knowledge and abilities:

(1) The ability of general urban planning, regional planning, delicate planning

(2) The skills to design public architectures and urban traffic and transportation facilities.

(3) The tentative ability related to city planning management

(4) The basic knowledge related to the urban public facilities.

(5) Mastery of the CAD and drafting.

Main courses: computer language, arts, designing aesthetics of architecture, history of the city development, the fundamentals of general planning and the detailed planning, city transportation system, public facilities, ekistics, urban ecology and environment.
