华中科技大学文化遗产研究中心，是集建筑与城市历史类课程教学、文化遗产保护研究和遗产保护工程设计于一体的工作机构。现有教授5人，副教授5人，讲师3人以及博士生9人。中心在建筑学一级学科博士点框架下，横跨建筑历史和建筑设计两个二级学位点，每年招收硕、博研究生近30人；设有四个研究室：建筑与文化研究室、乡土建筑与聚落研究室、建筑遗产保护与技术研究室和遗产保护工程设计研究室。该中心除了培养遗产保护和设计方向的专门人才外，主要致力于文化遗产及建筑历史多领域课题研究，包括：地区建筑文化资源的调查研究、文化遗产跨地区比较研究、建筑遗产保护技术研究等。
文化遗产中心拥有文物保护工程勘察设计乙级资质，可承接文物建筑保护规划、修复、重建等工程设计。中心已承担国家级课题8项；省部级课题6项；发表学术论文200余篇，出版专著10余本；完成遗产保护规划与工程设计项目50余项；培养博士、硕士研究生150余名。
Cultural Heritage Center of HUST is an institute which
engages in teaching of architectural and urban history, research of
cultural heritage, and project practices of heritage protection. The academic
team of CHC includes 5 professors, 3 associate professors, 3 lecturers and 9
PHD students. CHC is running under the architectural doctoral discipline and
crossing two secondary disciplines of architectural history and design. Every
year nearly 30 students for master and PHD are recruited in CHC. CHC includes 4
research studios: Architecture and culture research studio,
Vernacular architecture and settlement research studio, Technology of
architectural heritage protection research studio, Heritage
protection practice studio. In addition to training qualified people for
heritage protection, CHC engaged mainly in multidisciplinary research projects
of the cultural heritage and architectural history. It includes: Investigation
and study on regional architectural culture resources; Comparative study on the
cultural heritage of crossing regions; Research on the technology of
architectural heritage protection.
CHC has B professional qualification of design and investigation of historical relic protection projects,
which make CHC can undertake the heritage conservation planning, restoration,
reconstruction and other practice works. Up to now, CHC has undertaken 8
national research projects and 6 provincial-level research subjects. As results
of research and teaching in past 10 years, more than10 monographs and 200
academic papers by the members of CHC were published, and more than 50 projects
of heritage conservation planning and design are accomplished. Furthermore,
nearly 150 graduate students and PHD students have graduated from CHC.
